Plastic Free Beauty Brand: Ksoni

Plastic Free Beauty Brand: Ksoni

During plastic free July I have been on the hunt for vegan, eco friendly beauty brands that are all natural and plastic free. Sounds like a big ask, but I was recently gifted some products from Ksoni, who tick all of these boxes and then some.

Did you know that only 50% of toiletries are recycled, which is just over half of the 90% of kitchen products which are recycled. Not sure why that is but these products are a step in the right direction to help you on your way to a plastic free lifestyle, as unlike a lot of the other toiletry brands out there, which are housed in plastic, these are the first to come in a can. Yes, you read that right, like your fizzy drink, sparkling rose, aluminium can! I absolutely love this because cans have the highest recycling rate of any household item providing a circular way of life with ease. Simply use the product, recycle the can and before you know it that same can (or parts of it after being recycled) is back on the shelves, ready to be consumed by the next lucky soul. It comes with a handy little lid which helps to avoid overpouring or spilling the product, which means you don’t waste any of this yummy body wash (I didn't eat it, I promise although it totally smells edible)

This genius was created by Joti Soti and Banasa Williams who were aiming to lower their own carbon footprint whilst manufacturing products that were inclusive and solved the problems of women a wider range of hair types unlike a lot of the brands you see on the high street. They also wanted to create a spa like experience without the hefty price tag that could be enjoyed in the comfort of your own home. These do exactly that. When I stepped out of my shower after using the Zakti (which means invigorate) body wash, it's lingering citrusy scents really did resemble that of a fancy spa. The use of all natural ingredients and essential oils really does give your senses a treat. It’s easy to slip into a meditation while washing with these. As you know by now, I am all about scents and this really did give me a burst of energy to start my day. The Sanskrit word Zakti translated actually means positive energy, strength, power, potential all of which I feel after a warm shower in this body wash.

As for the conditioner, which comes in a tin opposed to a can, this is so creamy and really did make my locks feel super silky soft. I love how easily this product works through my coils. I tend to use conditioner a lot more than shampoo to avoid drying out my hair. So after wetting my hair I smoothed a small amount of this through my hair mixed with a dribble of apple cider vinegar in order to cleanse my hair. I then combed it through ensuring all strands were covered before massaging it in and letting it soak into my hair for half an hour. I then proceeded to dampen my hair and give it one last massage before rinsing the product from my hair finishing with a cool blast of water to seal those oils into my hair. Lush! My hair thanks you ladies for this one! Ksoni really does live upto its Sanskrit meaning of Earth, as I feel at one with the earth every time I have a shower or wash my hair. Job well done and I think you have really started something with this body wash in a can thing!
