BBB Photography Workshop

On Saturday 30th of June I was blessed enough to attend the Black British Bloggers Photography Workshop at the Impact Hub, Brixton, where we learnt about lighting techniques, angles, shooting flatlays, beauty and fashion as well as finding the perfect light on outdoor shoots.

Before even entering the venue, I could tell it was going to be a great creative day. Walking through Brixton market and seeing all the creativity and vibrancy such as this artwork I spotted really got my mind flowing with excitement and creativity.

Then when I walked through the outdoor area near the Impact Hub, they were playing on of my favourite Dru Hill songs so it got me in the mood to make some magic.

So to start off with, as a little ice-breaker task we were split up into teams and of 3 and asked to speak to and get to know each other and relay it back to the group.

I was teamed up with these two lovely ladies, Ronke the creator of Brown Beauty Talk and Tracy, the brains and brawn behind The Feminine Code

Next up, we were given the task of taking some beauty pics! And these are the ones that we got of me.

These shots were created using a giant ring light. Man was that thing hot, but was hella worth it.

Then we made our way over to the fashion station to take some more shots in these fab shades and headscarves.

And then we finally got some shots of food. Flatlays have always been my biggest woe and it was good to pick up some tips on how to get the perfect shot. Natural daylight is always best when taking flatlays so that you don't get too many harsh shadows to distract attention away from the products.

Here are the one's I got of these yummy sauces by Neema Foods.

And after lunch we made the most of the sunshine and went outside to learn how to get the perfect outdoor shot making the best use of the natural light.

Shahira from was all about getting those close up shots of my nails 'cause she loved the colour. And you know what I ain't mad at her! It's vegan gel polish in Pillow Talk from Madam Glam BTW, which I purchased from UK stockist Lilly Beau! Just FYI!

Her shots were on point. Her website Afro Glory, which talks about natural hair, is amazing! Check it out here.

I will definitely be attending more of these workshops because they were really giving me good vibes.

We also came across this cute little thrift shop on our way out where there was so much choice.

Thanks for reading and if you know any other cool blogging workshops that I should attend, feel free to let me know.
