Shoes, Glorious Shoes!

Shoes, Glorious Shoes!

Can a girl really ever have too many shoes? That is the question. Well, for a girl like me, the answer used to be a firm no.

Shoes, as well as other accessories such as jewellery and handbags, make an outfit. These are the finer details that complete any look. So to keep variety in your wardrobe, a diverse range of shoes is the key to keeping any fashionista fresh

But in light of Fashion Revolution Week, I wanted to start thinking outside the (shoe) box and look at ways I can make my shoe fetish more of a sustainable one

So, I decided to hunt out sustainable shoe brands that can add variety to my wardrobe whilst being ethically conscious

First up I found these gorgeous Chelsea boots from Nak - which stands for No Animal Killed

I think we all should own a pair of Black Chelsea Boots, as they are so versatile. You can style them with jeans, a skirt or a dress and make the outfit as casual or glam as you like. This brand also designs a range of knee high boots, ankle boots and heeled pumps as well as a range of men's shoes and boots

Next up, I found this amazing company The People's Movement. This eco-conscious brand based in San Francisco use up-cycled plastic bags from Bali, as well as organic cotton and natural dyes to create their gorgeous breathable products. So when you are working out in these shoes, you are not only working to build a better body, but by supporting companies such as these you are helping build a better planet. Love that!

Another brand that I already knew of is Matt and Nat. They create shoes, handbags as well as other accessories such as purses, wallets and belts

Matt and Nat Klass Leone Mules

These suedette mules are gorgeous in this chic denim colour featuring an on-trend round block heel. They can be styled with jeans and a t-shirt, a cute summer dress or a mini skirt and a bandeau or bardot for a girly night out.

This brand loves our planet and animals so make sure all of the materials used are eco friendly such as recycled nylon, cork and rubber as well as their signature vegan leather which is made from PU which is less harmful than PVC, which a lot of the budget brands use

Lastly, I found these comfy loafers from the earth loving brand, Beyond Skin.

These loafers can be dressed in a few different ways. You could pair them with jeans, a white t-shirt and a blazer for a smart casual look for date night or they can be worn with a wide legged trouser suit to give a business look with an edge.

I have really come to love the transparency of this brand and enjoyed reading about all the things they do behind the scenes to make sure they are doing their bit for their workers, the animals and the planet

I think it is important for us to all do our bit to make sure that our choices are not affecting but enhancing the beautiful planet we have been blessed with. People tend to think about what they put in their bodies and how it affects their health. But what about what goes on your body. Our skin is our largest organ and we need to look after it by finding out where our clothes come from and if the chemicals used will affect our skin and the planet. Not only that but who made our clothes and what were their working conditions. I recently watched "The True Cost" documentary which talks about the true cost of fashion - fast fashion at that and was shocked by some of the disregard for people's lives and safety. We are all sharing this planet together so it is all of our responsibility to look after it and each other!
